MDHHS

The MDHHS Housing and Homeless Services Division works to make homelessness rare, brief and one time for all Michigan citizens. The Division administers grants to local providers to assist individuals and families experiencing homelessness with the goal of moving them into stable housing as quickly as possible and providing the supports needed to achieve permanent housing stability.

MDS Community Action Agency

Housing Resource Specialists works with anyone who is at risk of being homeless or is homeless, helping people to stabilize their housing needs. In addition, they are able to set up emergency shelter providing people with an immediate and safe place to sleep at night.  For a confidential eligibility assessment, please call our screening hotline at: 1-800-562-9762 EXT. 207

Salvation Army

The Pathway of Hope program offers holistic and strengths-based case management services to families with children who have a desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and attain a level of increased stability. Families will work in partnership with their case manager and ministry staff to develop an action plan as well as assess their strengths and progress while receiving support and encouragement to reach their goals. Contact the Social Service office at (906) 786-0590 to learn more about the basic needs programs.

St. Vincent De Paul

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frederic Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul.  Friends in need may receive assistance with food, shelter, utilities, rent, material needs, prescriptions, transportation and other forms of charity. Each Conference works independently and may offer the aforementioned services or others not listed.
